What Went Right, What Went Wrong

What went right, wrong vs. Green Bay

The highs and lows of the Steelers regular season Week 12 game vs. the Green Bay Packers

8:30 p.m. ET - Kickoff

**

8:42 p.m. ET - What went right:** Getting off to a fast start is something Mike Tomlin talks to his team about every week, and the offense held up its end against the Packers. Martavis Bryant returned the opening kickoff 38 yards to the Pittsburgh 41-yard line, and from there Ben Roethlisberger directed a 12-play, 59-yard touchdown drive that ended with a 1-yard shovel pass to Xavier Grimble for the touchdown. On the drive, the Steelers converted two third downs and a fourth down.

8:45 p.m. ET - What went wrong: Chris Boswell missed the extra point following the Steelers' opening-drive touchdown, and then on the ensuing kickoff, which went into the end zone for a touchback, Vince Williams was flagged for a personal foul that allowed the Packers to begin their opening series at their own 40-yard line.

8:50 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Packers took advantage of that field position and turned it into a 60-yard touchdown drive that was aided by a key penalty on a third-and-5 from the Steelers 43-yard line. On the play, Stephon Tuitt sacked Brett Hundley, but the play was nullified by an illegal-hands-to-the-face penalty on Artie Burns. Two plays later, Hundley found a wide-open Randall Cobb down the left sideline for a 39-yard touchdown. The Packers then took a 7-6 lead when Mason Crosby converted the extra point with 4:45 remaining in the first quarter.

8:59 p.m. ET - What went wrong:** The Steelers' second possession ended with the game's first turnover, which came on a Demarious Randall interception of a Ben Roethlisberger pass that was intended for Eli Rogers on a third-and-9 from the Pittsburgh 49-yard line. The Packers took over at their own 45-yard line.

9:06 p.m. ET - What went wrong: Three plays after the interception, the Packers had a 14-6 lead after a 54-yard screen pass to Jamaal Williams went for a touchdown. Ryan Shazier missed a tackle, and Sean Davis overran the play, and Williams beat the pursuit to the end zone. There was 1:22 left in the first quarter after that Green Bay touchdown.

9:10 p.m. ET - End of 1st Quarter: Packers 14, Steelers 6

9:27 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Steelers lost 50 yards in field position when a holding call on Brian Allen nullified a 40-yard punt return by Antonio Brown that would have given the Steelers the ball at the Green Bay 15-yard line with about 10 minutes left in the second quarter.

**

9:31 p.m. ET - What went right:** The Steelers tied the game, 14-14, with 7:20 remaining in the first half on the possession that was made more difficult by the loss of 50 yards of field position resulting from the penalty that nullified a punt return by Antonio Brown. It was a five-play, 65-yard drive, with the key play being a 39-yard completion to Brown, which was followed shortly by a 17-yard pass to Martavis Bryant for the touchdown. Brown caught a pass from Ben Roethlisberger for the 2-point conversion that tied the score.

9:51 p.m. ET - What went right: Ben Roethlisberger finished the first half having completed 17-of-25 for 165 yards, with two touchdowns, one interception, and a rating of 96.2. But not reflected in those statistics were five dropped balls.

**

9:52 p.m. ET - Halftime:** Steelers 14, Packers 14

10:05 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Packers took a 21-14 lead on the first possession of the third quarter with a six-play, 76-yard drive that ended with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Brett Hundley to Davante Adams. The touchdown came on a third-and-3, and Adams ran past Coty Sensabaugh down the right sideline. Mike Mitchell had a chance to make a tackle in the middle of the field, but he wasn't able to get Adams on the ground.

10:20 p.m. ET - What went wrong: Ben Roethlisberger's second interception came midway through the third period on an attempted screen pass to Le'Veon Bell. The ball was tipped up into the air by Ahmad Brooks, and it was intercepted by Blake Martinez. The Packers took over at the Pittsburgh 45-yard line.

10:25 p.m. ET - What went right: For the first time in the game, the Steelers defense rose up in a situation when the team needed it, and the team needed it following Ben Roethlisberger's second interception. After the Packers made one first down, sacks by L.T. Walton and then Cam Heyward had the Packers attempt a 57-yard field goal. Mason Crosby's attempt missed to the left, and the Steelers took possession at their own 47-yard line with 4:15 left in the third quarter.

**

10:32 p.m. ET - What went right:** Tie game, again, 21-21, with 50 seconds left in the third quarter. On the 53-yard touchdown drive, Ben Roethlisberger completed 4-of-4 for 39 yards, including the 1-yard touchdown to Antonio Brown, and he also scrambled for 8 yards to convert a second-and-6.

10:38 p.m. ET - What went right: Last play of the third quarter was a third-and-12 for Green Bay at its own 23-yard line. Cam Heyward posted his second sack of the night, a 4-yard loss, and the Packers opened the fourth quarter by punting from their own 19-yard line.

10:38 p.m. ET - End of 3rd Quarter: Steelers 21, Packers 21

10:44 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Steelers' third turnover of the game came on the third play of the fourth quarter. After Le'Veon Bell ran for 15 yards on the first two plays of the quarter, he fumbled and the ball was recovered by Blake Martinez at the Green Bay 34-yard line with 14:24 remaining in the fourth quarter.

10:58 p.m. ET - What went right: The Steelers finally completed their climb back to re-take the lead with 8:42 remaining in the fourth quarter. The seven-play, 68-yard drive was capped by a 33-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown, and the throw made dropped in perfectly between Davon House and Morgan Burnett. An 11-yard pass to Eli Rogers converted a third-and-6, and an 11-yard run by Le'Veon Bell converted a third-and-1.

11:12 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Packers tied the game again, 28-28, with a 12-play, 77-yard drive capped by a 4-yard touchdown run by Jamaal Williams. On the drive, Brett Hundley completed 7-of-8 for 62 yards. The touchdown came with 2:02 remaining.

11:36 p.m. ET - Final Score: Steelers 31, Packers 28
