Player of the Week

Watt is Digest Player of the Week

T.J. WATT
Outside Linebacker

Usually in the NFL, it's about how many. How many points. How many wins. But on Sunday night at Heinz Field with the Steelers and the Seahawks fighting to add a "1" to their victory total, it turned out to be about when.

Great players make big plays at significant moments, and because T.J. Watt picked the correct "when" for his two biggest plays of the night, it was the Steelers who added to their victory total with a 23-20 overtime TKO of Seattle at Heinz Field.

Watt finished with seven tackles, including three for loss, plus two sacks, three passes defensed, and the forced fumble in overtime that was recovered by Devin Bush and provided the field position for Chris Boswell's game-deciding 37-yard field goal with 2:50 remaining. Watt's first sack of the game pushed the Seahawks out of field goal range during their first possession of overtime, and his second sack directly impacted the outcome of the game.

Watt is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Cam Heyward, who had nine tackles, including two for loss, and a sack; Boswell, who finished with 11 points, including 3-for-3 on field goals; Najee Harris, who finished with 127 yards from scrimmage – 84 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.4 average), and 46 more on seven catches, one of which was a 5-yard touchdown; and Tre Norwood, who had three tackles, including one for loss, and a pass defensed.
