Steelers trade Cockrell to Giants

The Steelers traded cornerback Ross Cockrell to the New York Giants in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Cockrell spent the last two seasons with the Steelers, starting all 16 games in 2016. He finished the season with 62 tackles, 14 pass defenses and a fumble recovery. Cockrell played in 15 games in 2015, starting seven, and had 44 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass defenses. He also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Cockrell, in his fourth season, signed with the Steelers in September, 2015, after being released by the Buffalo Bills.

Earlier in the day the Steelers traded Sammie Coates to the Cleveland Browns.
