Steelers sign Ingram, Green

The Steelers signed linebacker Melvin Ingram III and offensive tackle Chaz Green to one-year contracts.

Ingram III, a pass rushing specialist who will bolster the defense, spent his entire nine-year career with the Los Angeles Chargers after being selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the 18th player overall.

Ingram III, a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2017-19), has 49 career sacks, including career highs of 10.5 in 2015 and 2017. He ranks second in Chargers history with 70 tackles for a loss.

He started 96 of the 113 games he has played in and recorded 348 tackles, including 254 solo stops, 28 pass defenses, 13 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and three interceptions.

Ingram III battled a knee injury in 2020, forcing him to miss time, playing in just seven games with 10 tackles and no sacks before landing on injured reserve.

Green played in 15 games in 2020 for Indianapolis, starting one, in his only season with the Colts.

Green was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the 91st overall player. He missed the majority of the season with a hip injury, activated late in the year but didn't play. He played a combined 18 games in 2016 and 2017, starting six.

Green also spent time with the Saints, Broncos and Raiders, where he played in four games and started one for the silver and black. He has played in a total of 37 games, starting eight, in his six-year career.
