Steelers sign CB Ponder

The Steelers have signed free-agent cornerback Jermaine Ponder and waived/injured cornerback Derrek Thomas.

Ponder played collegiately at Saint Francis (Pa.). He was named second-team all-Northeast Conference after his senior season in 2018. Ponder set a St. Francis record with 16 passes defended (15 pass breakups and one interception). Those totals led the Northeast Conference and ranked fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision.
