Steelers release Zach Mettenberger

The Steelers released quarterback William Gay, it was announced today.

Mettenberger spent the 2016 season on the Steelers' roster after being claimed off of waivers from the Tennessee Titans. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth round (178th overall) draft choice of Titans in 2014. Mettenberger has appeared in 14 games (10 starts), throwing for 2,347 yards and 12 touchdowns on 208 pass completions in his NFL career.
