An updated look at the Steelers playoff scenario:
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
And no, we not talking about the holiday season.
It’s the time of year when playoff talk heats up and visions of postseason games dance in everyone’s heads.
The Steelers can clinch the AFC North and a playoff berth with a win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon, combined with a loss by the Baltimore Ravens, who play the Los Angeles Chargers. In addition, if the Steelers tie the Saints and the Ravens lose, the Steelers would clinch the AFC North and earn a playoff spot.
The Steelers play the Saints, who have already clinched a playoff spot and the NFC South, at Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 4:25 on Sunday, Dec. 23.
The Ravens play the Chargers on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Rokit Field at Stubhub Center. The Ravens are a half game behind the Steelers in the AFC North. The Chargers, who are 11-3, have clinched a playoff berth but are battling for the AFC West title with the Kansas City Chiefs, and the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC.
The Steelers can also clinch a playoff spot - not the division - with a win, combined with a loss by both the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. The Titans host the Washington Redskins on Saturday at 4:30, while the Colts are at home against the New York Giants at 1 p.m.
