Steelers sign Trai Essex

The Steelers have signed veteran offensive lineman Trai Essex to a one-year contract, the team announced today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Essex was an unrestricted free agent before re-signing with the Steelers. Originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft, Essex started 25 games in his six years with the team.

To make room for Essex on the active roster, the Steelers released first-year guard Nevin McCaskill.
