The NFL has partnered with the American Cancer Society for the 17th consecutive season for 'Crucial Catch,' and the Steelers will be taking part in it today when they host the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium.
The initiative is designed to bring attention to the importance of early detection and risk reduction, things that can be life saving for individuals who are diagnosed early.
Since the inception of the partnership, the NFL has contributed more than $305 million to the American Cancer Society through sales of Crucial Catch branded merchandise, NFL Auction items, and general fundraising.
"Crucial Catch allows the NFL and American Cancer Society to provide education on cancer risks, patient navigation and other screening resources to fans around the world," said Anna Isaacson, NFL senior vice president of social responsibility. "As teams, players, fans and the entire NFL family amplify the importance of early cancer detection through Crucial Catch, we make progress towards addressing and lowering health disparities."
"The NFL's commitment and resources have been instrumental in advancing our mission to end cancer as we know it, for everyone," said Shane Jacobson, CEO of the American Cancer Society. "Through Crucial Catch, we can break down barriers to cancer screening, particularly in communities that face the greatest need. When people have the opportunity to detect cancer early, outcomes improve, lives are extended, and families have more time together."
Steelers players will be supporting the cause when they wear Crucial Catch sideline gear, including hats, hoodies and t-shirts, during the game. The items are available to be purchased on Steelers.com, with a portion of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
A crucial catch: It doesn't stop there by a longshot for the team. To kick things off, the team's highly successful 50/50 raffle will benefit cancer charities.
Fans entering Acrisure Stadium will be given an Intercept Cancer Terrible Towel, which will be distributed by UPMC volunteers. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Magee Womens Hospital are the presenting sponsors for the game.
There will be no shortage of support throughout Acrisure Stadium with on-field stencils and goal posts wraps being among the featured items supporting Crucial Catch. Players and coaches will also show their support, from the sideline apparel, which will also include pins, gloves, wristbands, sideline caps and other items.
The Steelers will also use their digital and social platforms to share the importance of the initiative.
The community organization of the game will be Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel. Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel is a support group open to all Breast Cancer Survivors. They provide a place where Breast Cancer Survivors of all ages and physical abilities can gather to discuss and act to improve their overall sense of well-being. They do this through physical activity, communication, support, friendship, and giving back to our community.
The Ford Warriors in Pink Quilt will be presented by Joey Thurby, Chairman of the Neighborhood Ford Store, to the active and alumni members of Zeta Tau Alphas. The Quilt was made by Helen Carson or Latrobe, Pa.
UPMC will present a $10,000 check to Stephanie Samolovitch, Founder and Executive Director of Young Adult Survivors United, to raise funds to support those impacted by breast cancer though free programs and services.
UPMC cancer survivors will stand on the field for the National Anthem.
Steelers legend Merril Hoge, a cancer survivor, will start the Terrible Towel Twirl.
This is part of the team's overall dedication to helping in the fight against cancer. On Tuesday, Steelers players took part in a healthy cooking demo at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. Steelers Style, the team's annual fashion show, benefited multiple charities, including Cancer Bridges.

What's New at Acrisure Stadium: With the NFL season here, the Steelers and Acrisure Stadium have exciting changes coming for 2025, with plenty of enhancements for fans to take advantage of.
"We are committed to constant improvement across every part of our business," said Ryan Huzjak, the Steelers Senior Vice President of Business Operations. "By listening to our fans and acting on their feedback, we're making meaningful changes to enhance their game day experience. Our goal is never to stand still, but to keep raising the bar."
One of the first highlights fans will notice is a 44 x 25-yard football field that is now in place outside of the stadium, near the Gate A Lawn. The field will be utilized as part of 2026 NFL Draft activities, as well as by the Steelers and University of Pittsburgh on event and game days.
Fans will be able to enjoy a new marquee videoboard that has been installed along Art Rooney Avenue, on the East side of the stadium. The board will be used for graphics and scores on game day, and will be another element in place for the 2026 NFL Draft.
For fans who want to connect with the Steelers social media channels on game day, a new and upgraded Wi-Fi system has been installed through Extreme Networks, featuring more than 1,300 access points.
Football and food always go hand-in-hand, and Acrisure Stadium is making sure fans have plenty of options. New concessions have been added to upper East sections 506 and 516, and upper West sections 529 and 534. Among the offerings are pulled pork nachos, featuring fresh jalapenos and cilantro lime crema. Fans in the UPMC Club and the West Club can access Steel City Markets, which features game day classics such as hot dogs, nachos, soft pretzels, beer, soda and water with a self-checkout feature. In addition, new Pick 6 Sammies are located in the UPMC Club (209) and West Club (233) and include chef-crafted, premium sandwiches.
There are plenty of other new and exciting features at Acrisure Stadium, as well as some returning favorite features.
Below is a full rundown of the remaining features courtesy of Acrisure Stadium:
FEATURED DESTINATIONS
• During the offseason, an official 2026 NFL Draft Countdown Clock was installed on the North Shore Great Lawn. The eye-catching structure marks the days until one of the most anticipated events in professional sports, which is set to bring hundreds of thousands of fans to Pittsburgh next April. The countdown clock serves as both a visual symbol of Pittsburgh's growing excitement and a unique photo opportunity for residents and visitors alike.
• Displayed on Art Rooney Avenue during Steelers game days, the 2026 NFL Draft Mobile Exhibit showcases Pittsburgh's deep Draft legacy—from the event's origins to the franchise's evolving philosophy. It also celebrates western Pennsylvania's remarkable football pipeline: 150 NFL players from 58 local schools, including 23 Hall of Famers. When not featured on game days, the exhibit will be open throughout the 2025 season in the FedEx Great Hall.

The exhibit will allow fans to relive the 2005 season start to finish and is the latest addition to the museum which is home to more than 50 Hall of Honor inductees and over 10,000 square feet of Steelers history. The exhibit will run through the summer of 2026. Tours can be booked at steelers.com/museum.
• As the Terrible Towel marks its 50th anniversary this season, fans can celebrate the iconic symbol by visiting the Terrible Towel wall located in the FedEx Great Hall. The installation is dedicated to the towel's rich history and cultural impact dating back to its creation by legendary Steelers broadcaster, Myron Cope. It also includes a massive 400-square-foot Terrible Towel, perfect for photo opportunities on game days and during stadium tours.
• In addition to being filled wall-to-wall with black & gold gear, the Steelers Pro Shop will also carry Exclusive Steelers Gear including the Ireland Collection, the 1933 Legacy Collection and 2026 NFL Draft merchandise.
