PAT FREIERMUTH
Tight End
Heading into Thursday night's game vs. the Bengals in Cincinnati, it hadn't been the kind of season that anyone expected for Pat Freiermuth or one that he could've imagined for himself in his worst nightmare. His first 4 seasons in the NFL had him average 75.5 targets and 55 catches per, but through the first 5 games of 2025, Freiermuth had been targeted 11 times and had 8 receptions. Total.
But things turned around for him in dramatic fashion against the Bengals when he was targeted 6 times and finished with 5 catches for 111 yards and touchdowns of 19 and 68 yards. His 68-yard catch-and-run gave the Steelers a 31-30 lead with 2:21 remaining in the fourth quarter, a game they would lose, 33-31, on a 36-yard field goal by Evan McPherson with 7 seconds remaining.
It was the first 2 touchdown game of his career, and his second 100-yard receiving game, with the other also coming in Cincinnati on Nov. 26, 2023. Freiermuth is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were Jaylen Warren, who rushed for 127 yards on 16 carries (7.9 average) and caught 4 passes for 31 more to finish with 158 yards from scrimmage; Aaron Rodgers, who completed 23-of-34 (67.6 percent) for 249 yards, with 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a rating of 103.7; and DeShon Elliott, who led the team with 9 tackles.
