Steelers Sign Timmons to Six-Year Contract

The Steelers have signed linebacker Lawrence Timmons to a six-year contract, the team announced today. Financial terms of the contract, which will keep him with the team through 2016, were not disclosed.

Originally drafted by the Steelers in the first round (15th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft, Timmons has started 30 regular-season games and three postseason games.

Timmons set numerous career marks by starting 15-of-16 games and registered a team-high 149 tackles to go with three sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and seven pass breakups.

Timmons' career numbers include 308 tackles, 15 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Timmons has 32 tackles, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery in the postseason.
