Steelers sign RB Stingily, DL Thornton

The Steelers have signed running back Cameron Stingily and defensive lineman Mike Thornton after participating in the team's 2015 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Financial terms of the three-year deals were not disclosed.

Stingily (6-1, 235) appeared in 35 games at Northern Illinois and rushed for 2,095 yards on 397 carries with 23 touchdowns. His 13 rushing touchdowns in 2014 were the second most in the MAC Conference.

Thornton (6-1, 296) played in 44 games (10 starts) at Georgia. He recorded a single-season best 30 tackles (12 solo) in 2014, starting 10-of-13 games.

The Steelers released defensive tackle Nigel Crawford-Kinney, punter Richie Leone and defensive end Bradon Prate. The team currently has 89 players on their roster.
