Steelers Sign WR/KR Eddie Drummond; Waive Offensive Tackle Jason Capizzi

PITTSBURGH ― The Steelers have signed free agent wide receiver/kick returner Eddie Drummond to a one-year contract, it was announced today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

During his six seasons, Drummond (5-9, 190) has returned 250 kicks for 5,811 yards (23.2 avg.) with two touchdowns. Drummond spent the 2007 season with the Kansas City Chiefs after spending his first five seasons with the Detroit Lions. His best season was in 2004 with the Lions when he made his only Pro Bowl appearance after returning 41 kicks for 1,092 yards (26.6 avg.) with two touchdowns.

The Steelers also announced today that offensive tackle Jason Capizzi has been placed on the Waived/Injured List. Capizzi was re-signed by the Steelers on January 2 after spending time during the 2007 season on the practice squads of the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
