Steelers sign Cameron Heyward to new contract

The Steelers have signed defensive end Cameron Heyward to a new six-year contract that will keep him with the team through 2020, the team announced today.

Heyward was originally drafted by the Steelers in the first round (31st overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. Entering his fifth season, Heyward has appeared in 64 consecutive games tying for the third-longest active consecutive games played streak among defensive ends in the NFL.

In the 2014 regular season, Heyward set a career high with 7.5 sacks, becoming the team's first defensive lineman to lead or tie for the team lead in sacks since Aaron Smith (2004). For his career, Heyward has totaled 106 tackles, 15 sacks and 12 passes defensed.
