PITTSBURGH —
The Steelers added depth to their defensive line today when they promoted defensive tackleScott Paxsonfrom their practice squad to the active roster.
 
Paxson (6-4, 292) was on the Steelers' practice squad for the first four games of the regular season after originally signing with the team in 2006 as an undrafted rookie from Penn State. He spent the past two seasons (2006-07) on the Steelers' practice squad after being released during the team's final preseason roster cuts.
 
A native of Philadelphia, Paxson will wear uniform No. 71.
 
The Steelers made room on their roster for Paxson by releasing rookie linebackerPatrick Bailey. Bailey, who originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent from Duke, spent the first two weeks of the 2008 season on the team's practice squad before being promoted to the active roster.
