The Steelers ticket office continued to keep season ticket holders updated on details for the 2020 season, with the latest information outlining current guidelines on capacity and seat locations at Heinz Field sent to them in an email on Wednesday.
The team is working on plans for fans to safely attend regular season games this season and are in the process of reviewing those plans with public health officials in order to get clearance.
In the email, the team said that if it does receive clearance for fans to attend games at Heinz Field, it is likely that seating capacity will be greatly reduced to allow for social distancing and additional safety measures. The current plan is to create seating groups or pods, which would provide social distance between various groups while seated. Because of that measure being required, the team will not be able to offer season ticket holders their exact seating location for the 2020 season, but "every effort will be made to offer you a seat location that is similar to your season ticket location."
Season tickets holders who have elected to keep their tickets for the 2020 season will have the opportunity to select new seat locations on a game-by-game basis, all based on fans being permitted to attend, and that opportunity will occur prior to tickets being released to the general public. The email also detailed how season ticket holders can apply the funds already paid toward the new tickets they select.
The team will continue to provide details to season ticket holders as they become available, and any season ticket holder who still wants to defer their tickets until the 2021 season can do so until Friday, Aug. 14.
