Plenty to do on North Shore this weekend

Visitors to the North Shore for this weekend's Heinz Field Coors Light Kickoff and Rib Festival and the Steelers/Gatorade 5K can also tour the USS LST-325, an amphibious vessel designed to land battle ready tanks that now serves as a memorial to the ships that were popular during WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam War.

The LST-325 (Landing Ship Tank) is docked in the Allegheny River by Riverfront Park, right by Heinz Field.

The USS LST 325 is open for tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Riverfront Park in Pittsburgh, adjacent to Heinz Field. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and benefits the upkeep and operation of the ship that is a part of America's history.

The 27th Annual Gatorade/Steelers 5K Race, Fitness Walk and Kids Kickoff Run will take place at Heinz Field on Sunday, Sept. 6. You can still register for the race in person on Friday, September 4th from Noon until 8 p.m. at Heinz Field Gate C and on race day beginning at 7 a.m. in the FedEx Great Hall at Heinz Field.
