Mortty Ivy Signed to Active Roster

The Steelers promoted linebacker Mortty Ivy to their active roster, the team announced today. Ivy has spent seven of the first eight weeks of 2011 on Pittsburgh's practice squad.

Ivy (6-1, 239) signed with the Steelers during the offseason after spending time on the practice squads of the St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins in 2010. Originally Ivy entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2009 and spent 15 weeks on the Carolina Panthers practice squad. He was elevated to the Panthers' roster for the final week of the season but was inactive for the game.

To make room on the roster, the Steelers released defensive end Corbin Bryant, who spent one week on the active roster (Week 7) after spending the rest of the season on the practice squad.
