Youth representing Steelers wins PP&K

Nathan Tewell of Girard, Pa., won the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick National Finals in the boys 14-15 year old category. Tewell, who represented the Steelers in the competition, will be introduced as one of the national champions during the Denver Broncos-San Diego Chargers AFC Divisional Playoff game on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Tewell, 15, competed on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  Each participant had two punts, two passes and two kicks and scores were based on distance and accuracy.

Tewell, a sophomore kicker for Northwestern Senior High School, finished with a final score of 471.3 feet, with the second place winner coming in at 420.6 feet.

"The NFL Punt, Pass & Kick program gives girls and boys around the country a way to stay healthy and active and to learn the basic skills of football," said Scott Hallenbeck, Executive Director USA Football, the official youth development partner of the NFL and all 32 teams. "We are pleased to see so many of our young fans learning about football through this program."
