Steelers President Art Rooney II spent Thursday evening manning the phones at the 62nd Annual Children's Hospital Free Care Fund Benefit Show on KDKA-TV.

The Free Care Fund was established for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UMPC to continue to provide health care to every child in the community, regardless of the family's ability to pay.

"It's great to be a part of this," said Rooney. "Children's Hospital is one of our greatest assets in the community. It's great to be a part of something like this. The Free Care fund has been an important part of a lot of family's situations. Unfortunately this time of year people have a tough time making ends meet. It's great we have this available to families like that."

Also on hand to help the cause was former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, who wanted to do his share to help his hometown.

"It's great to support this cause that has been out there for so long," said Batch. "I always heard about this, and am thrilled to be a part of it. I am humbled that they asked me to be a part of it. You are trying to raise awareness. If you can and put it on people's radars it helps. A lot of people don't know things like this happen. Hopefully this helps us raise a lot of money."
