Steelers make roster moves

The Steelers made multiple roster moves on Wednesday, including signing offensive tackle Dylan Cook to the active roster from the practice squad. In addition, the team signed offensive tackle David Sharpe to the practice squad, placed offensive tackle Calvin Anderson on the Reserve/Injured List and released Trey Sermon from the practice squad.

Cook was elevated for the Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens, seeing action in the game.

Cook was signed to a Reserve/Future contract following the 2024 season after he spent part of the 2024 season on the Steelers Reserve/Injured (Designated for Return) List and the team's practice squad.

Cook spent the 2023 season on the 53-man roster, but didn't see any game action. Cook entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2022 NFL Draft.

He spent the 2022 season on Tampa's practice squad.

He played college football at Montana where he appeared in 27 games, starting 23 of them, and was a two-time Academic All-Big Sky selection.

Sharpe was most recently on the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad.

Sharpe was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the 129th overall selection.

Sharpe has appeared in 46 games in his career, starting six, while spending time with the Chargers, Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders and Houston Texans.

He played college football at Florida where he started 13 games at left tackle his senior season. He appeared in 14 games in 2015, starting 13 at left tackle.

Anderson was signed by the Steelers during the 2024 season and appeared in four games, but finished the regular season on the Reserve/Injured List. He was activated and appeared in the Steelers Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Ravens. He re-signed a two-year deal with the Steelers this offseason and appeared in seven games in 2025.

Anderson, who was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft, has appeared in 57 career games, starting 14. He spent time with the Patriots and New York Jets, before being signed to the Denver Broncos 53-man roster in 2019.

Anderson played in all 16 games in 2020 for the Broncos, starting one at right tackle and one at left tackle. He appeared in 11 games in 2021, starting three, all at left tackle. In 2022, he played in 14 games, starting seven at left tackle for Denver.

Anderson signed with the New England Patriots as an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2023 season. He appeared in five games, starting two, in 2023 before being placed on the Reserve/Injured List where he finished out the season.
