Steelers President Art Rooney II made a donation on behalf of the team to the Southwestern Pennsylvania World War II Memorial that is being built near Heinz Field, presenting a check to Bill Stewart on Thursday morning.

The World War II Memorial, which is being built on the banks of the North Shore Riverfront Park, will officially be dedicated on Dec. 6.

"It's going to be a great addition to the North Shore," said Rooney. "It's another great way to recognize the many veterans who fought in World War II.

"We are happy to support the cause. It was a special group of people and that is why we are honored to be a part of the memorial effort. It's an appropriate addition to the North Shore Riverfront Park."

Donations to the WWII Memorial can still be made here: Southwestern Pennsylvania World War II Memorial.
