The Steelers acquired receiver Michael Pittman Jr. in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts and signed him to a new three-year contract. The Steelers receive Pittman and a seventh-round pick, the 230th overall, while sending the Colts a sixth-round pick, the 214th overall.
Pittman, who was drafted by the Colts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, spent the last six seasons with the Colts, appearing in 95 games, with 86 starts.
He has 485 receptions for 5,254 yards, a 10.8-yard average, and 25 touchdowns. He also has 11 carries for 100 yards, a 9.1-yard average. He has started one postseason game in his career, finishing with five receptions for 90 yards.
Last season Pittman appeared in 17 games, starting 16. He finished the year with 80 receptions for 784 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.
In Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, he passed Dallas Clark (427) for four most receptions in Colts' history. He also scored a touchdown in that game, the second time in his career he scored at least one touchdown in three straight games.
Pittman also passed T.Y. Hilton for second-most receptions by a Colts player in their first six seasons. His consistency was on display as he became the first Colts player since Reggie Wayne in 2009 to score a touchdown in six of the first eight games of the season.
In 2024, Pittman played in 16 games, starting 14, and finished with 69 receptions for 808 yards, an 11.7-yard average, and three touchdowns. He had his best game of the season in Week 4 against the Steelers, when he finished with six receptions for a season-high 113 yards, an 18.8-yard average. Pittman had five of his receptions for 101 yards in the first half, the first Colts player to have 100 yards receiving since Hilton in 2020. In week nine, he had a season-high nine receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown.
Pittman appeared in 16 games, starting 15, in 2023 and finished the season with multiple career-highs, including 109 receptions for 1,152 yards. He averaged 10.6-yards per reception while pulling in four touchdowns. In Week 12, he had 10 receptions for 107 yards, while the following week he had a season-high 11 receptions for 105 yards.
In 2022, Pittman started all 16 games he appeared in, recording 99 receptions for 925 yards and four touchdowns. He also carried the ball three times for 30 yards. In Week 1, he had nine receptions for 121 yards, the first Colts player since Reggie Wayne in 2012 to have at least 100 yards receiving in Week 1 of a season. He recorded multiple single-game career-highs with 13 receptions for 134 yards in Week six against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
During the 2021 season he started all 17 games, finishing with 88 receptions for 1,082 yards and six touchdowns. He also had five carries for 44 yards. In Week 2, he had eight receptions for a season-high 123 yards. He also added four receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown in Week seven against the San Francisco 49ers.
Pittman appeared in 13 games, with eight starts, in his rookie season in 2020. He finished the year with 40 receptions for 503 yards and one touchdown, along with three carries for 26 yards. He had his first career 100-yard game in Week 10 when he had seven receptions for 101 yards against the Tennessee Titans.
Pittman's father, Michael, played 11 seasons in the NFL and was part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl XXXVII championship team.
Pittman played college football at USC where he played in 48 games, starting 20, and finished with 171 receptions for 2,519 yards, a 14.7-yard average, and 19 touchdowns.
