For years, Steelers fans from around the world have simultaneously celebrated and displayed their love of the Steelers on the Sunday prior to the start of the season.
It's a tradition that first started in Mexico, and Steelers "World Photo Day" has spread around the world. There are already multiple countries committed to participate this year, including the United States, Mexico, Ireland, and Germany, just to name a few.
"World Photo Day has grown into an annual Steelers tradition," said Dan Rooney, Steelers Director of Business Development & Strategy. "Each year, it's exciting to see Steelers Nation put their Black & Gold on full display all around the world. We look forward to seeing it grow even more this year."
The day provides Steelers Nation around the globe the perfect opportunity to put on their black and gold and show their support for the Steelers ahead of the team's season opener against the New York Jets.
How do you get involved? It's simple and totally up to each fan. You can gather in large groups with friends or family, at a local landmark, in your fan cave, or even with a flag from your country if you would like. Wherever and how you want to show your love for the team works, as there is no wrong way.
The key is, take a picture on Sunday, August 31, then share it on social media using the hashtag #SteelersWorldWide.
