The Steelers began their preparation for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts and injuries are playing a role this week.
Safety DeShon Elliott has been ruled out with a hyperextended knee he suffered against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night and is categorized by Coach Mike Tomlin as 'week-to-week.'
Also out is defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale, who suffered an ACL injury against the Packers.
"Daniel Ekuale has an ACL injury that will definitively have him out," said Tomlin. "DeShon Elliott is out this week with his hyperextended knee."
Guard Isaac Seumalo suffered a pectoral injury, but Tomlin has him listed as questionable for the game. He did not practice on Wednesday.
"I had a brief conversation with him in the training room," said Tomlin. "He's in a good mindset. He certainly is going to be limited at the early portion of the week, but he'll have a chance to contribute, particularly because he's a veteran player.
"He has some global snaps in his bank that could be an asset to him in terms of being ready to play on a limited number of snaps that maybe a younger player would not have."
When Seumalo left Sunday's game with his injury, it was Spencer Anderson who was called up to step up.
Anderson started at guard all through the preseason with Seumalo not playing, so it's nothing new for him.
"I guess me going in is kind of the line during the preseason," said Anderson. "Obviously, I feel most comfortable at guard, so it's no different, honestly.
"It's just another day at the office. I know obviously we couldn't run our heavy stuff because Isaac got hurt."
Receiver Scotty Miller suffered a broken finger last week, but Tomlin said he 'it has been repaired.'
"How functional he is will determine his ability to contribute or the level or the quality of that contribution," said Tomlin.
"We've got some other bumps and bruises associated with play that may limit some people at the early portions of the week. Then we'll harden that up as we get closer to game time.
"Not expecting any of those guys to lack availability at the end of the week."
Cornerback Cory Trice Jr. returned to practice today, but remains on the Reserve/Injured, Designated for Return List.
The Steelers have a 21-day window to either activate Trice or he remains on the Reserve/Injured List for the remainder of the season.
Trice was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on Aug. 26 with a hamstring injury.
This is the third straight season Trice has dealt with injuries. He missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury, and the majority of the 2024 season with a hamstring injury.
Trice has appeared in six games, starting one. He has 21 tackles, including 15 solo stops, two passes defensed, an interception and a tackle for a loss.
Center Zach Frazier (calf) and tight end Pat Freiermuth (quad) also did not practice.
