Normally, it's an award that is given to a bruising running back.
And normally, there are three finalists.
This week, it was a little different.
This week, there isn't anybody more deserving of NFL Network's Angry Runs for Week 11 than Steelers tight end Darnell Washington.
And that is why NFL Network's Kyle Brandt didn't just name Washington the first finalist for his run after catch, but also the second and third finalist for each of his 'runs' against the Cincinnati Bengals on a play everyone is still talking about.
"Way too big of a dude to be running like that," said Brandt. "This was the Godfather trilogy of runs, except he stuck the landing on part three."
It's the first time one player swept the finalist nominations, with Washington nominated three times for his 31-yard catch and run, one time for each of the Bengals defenders he punished as he took them out along the way.
Words that were used during the game broadcast to describe his play included bulldozing and plowing, to an appropriate description of calling Washington 'a one-man wrecking crew.'
"There are some guys in the league that had really good Angry Runs this week," said Brandt. "But there was no room at the inn.
"I couldn't just put Darnell as one. This thing is going to the Steel City.
"Darnell Washington, you have made history, you have infamy and you have the Scepter. It's going back to where it belongs.
"An all-time Angry Runs."
