The Steelers are headed to Dublin, Ireland for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, and the latest episode of 'The Standard' previews the trip as well as looks back on the Steelers first few games of the season.
The upcoming episode, 'The Standard: Homecoming,' includes interviews with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Steelers President Art Rooney II and Steelers Vice President of Business Development and Strategy Dan Rooney, talking about the first regular season NFL game to ever be played in Ireland.
"Fair to say we lobbied pretty hard to get this game in Ireland," said Art Rooney II. "It took a few years for it to happen, but I think even the league is a little surprised the demand for tickets and the attention the game is getting."
When the league announced the NFL Dublin Game, it was a no-brainer for the Steelers to play in it with the strong connection the Rooney family has to Ireland. Late Steelers Chairman and Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney Sr. always dreamt to have a regular season game in Ireland, and it has come true.
"The connection between the Steelers and Ireland and the NFL is so strong that it was a natural choice to have the Steelers there," said Goodell.
"I know Dan will be smiling down on all of us."
The episode of The Standard will also include a recap of the first two games of the season, including interviews with key players.
In addition, there will be behind-the-scenes stories on the preparation for Ireland, touching on an array of topics.
The upcoming episode of 'The Standard' will hit Steelers.com and all of the team's digital and social platforms on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
