Player of the Week

Ramsey is Steelers Digest Player of the Week

JALEN RAMSEY
Cornerback

When he injured a hamstring late in the win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 28, the estimates for Patrick Ramsey's ability to return varied, but none of them were so optimistic as to predict he would be able to play in the Steelers' next game, which was to be Oct. 12 vs. the Cleveland Browns.

That belief seemed to be holding true, because following the bye, Ramsey was a non-participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, but he did return on Friday and was a full participant in the final on-field session before the Browns game. Still listed as questionable on Friday, Ramsey had his injury designation rescinded by Saturday, and the questionable label was removed at that time as well.

And so when the Steelers and the Browns kicked off on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium, Ramsey was in uniform, and he did more than just play. He was a factor.

In the 23-9 victory that raised the Steelers record to 4-1, Ramsey had 6 tackles and 2 sacks, and while he didn't play every defensive snap, he played the vast majority of them. Ramsey is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Nick Herbig, who had 2 tackles and 2 sacks; T.J. Watt, who had 5 tackles, one-half sack, 3 hits on the quarterback, and 2 passes defensed; DK Metcalf, who had 4 catches for 95 yards (23.8 average) and a 25-yard touchdown; Jaylen Warren, who finished with 11 carries for 52 yards (4.7 average) plus 2 catches for 11 yards; and Aaron Rodgers, who completed 21-of-30 (70 percent) for 235 yards, with 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a rating of 115.3.
