The Steelers head into today's game against the Cleveland Browns missing multiple starters.
Linebacker T.J. Watt, who returned to practice this week in a limited capacity, is inactive for the third straight week due the issue he had with his lung.
Also inactive are receiver Calvin Austin III, cornerbacks Brandin Echols and James Pierre and guard Isaac Seumalo.
With the two corners dealing with injuries, the Steelers signed veteran Tre Flowers on Christmas Day.
In eight seasons in the NFL, Flowers appeared in 86 games, starting 43 of them. He has four career interceptions, five forced fumbles and 22 passes defensed. He also has 270 tackles, 211 of them solo stops.
"It's an opportunity to come in and help a banged-up group and try to give them all I've got.
"(I love) just getting to talk football, being around football. I'll always be like this for the rest of my life. So, just cherish the moment.
"It's the best situation you can be in. I want to help a team win, help the team get to the Super Bowl again, and that's my goal."
Flowers said his experience helps him coming to a new team this late in the season.
"I always pride myself on trying to study," said Flowers. "So, I always try to start fresh, and that's exactly how I'll attack it here.
"This defense is a little different than all the other places I've been, so, I guess this would be a little bit more of a challenge.
"I'm ready for it.
"I just love football, so anywhere you put me, I'll master it with the best of my ability and try to make plays.
"I'm just trying to help anybody that wants my help, that needs help. I'm here to help. That's how I feel. I am here to serve. So, I always do my role."
With Austin inactive and DK Metcalf suspended for two games, it's going to be all hands on deck this week at the position.
And everyone is ready to carry the load.
"I think it's a really good opportunity for guys to step up," said receiver Ben Skowronek. "Obviously, missing him will be big, but it's going to be an opportunity for us to step up and still have to win the game.
"So, whatever, however that happens, whoever steps up, we've just got to do it, we've got to win."
Receiver Scotty Miller was called into action against the Lions when Austin was injured. After dealing with an injury this year and just battling to get playing time, getting back in action meant everything to him.
"It had been a while since I had done much out there," said Miller. "So, it definitely felt good to make some plays."
Receiver Roman Wilson, who was a healthy inactive the last three weeks, would also welcome the opportunity to see action this week.
"I've been working hard, so it's nice that we came around like this," said Wilson. "It's cool. I'll be ready."
Wilson said the last few weeks were a good opportunity for him to reflect.
"It was a great time for me to go back and reflect on the season and learn where I can grow," said Wilson. "Learn where I can get better. How can I improve myself and things like that.
"So, it was in a weird way a real blessing."
The Steelers elevated offensive lineman Jack Driscoll and defensive back D'Shawn Jamison from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive Roster for the game.
Driscoll, who was signed to the Steelers practice squad on Oct. 29, was also elevated for the Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins and Week 16 game against the Detroit Lions.
Driscoll was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with the Eagles, appearing in 67 games, starting 18.
Jamison was also elevated for the Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jamison was signed to a Reserve/Future contract at the end of the 2024 season and spent training camp and the preseason with the team in 2025. Jamison spent time on the Steelers practice squad during the 2024 season.
Jamison originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers and appeared in 15 games for the Panthers in 2023, starting two. He finished the season with five tackles, three of them solo stops, and one pass defensed.
