PHOTOS: Alysa's Top Pics of 2025 - Top 10
Steelers digital media archivist Alysa Rubin shares her 10 best photos from the 2025 season

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington (80) hurdles over a defender during a regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Steelers defeated the Bengals 34-12. Anytime Darnell Washington goes airborne, it's an impressive feat of athleticism. Using a high shutter speed allowed me to completely freeze Washington midair, and the shallow depth of field isolates him and the Bengals defenders from the crowded background. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell (14), wide receiver Ben Skowronek (15) and tight end Pat Freiermuth (88) celebrate a crucial play during a regular season game against the Chicago Bears, Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025 in Chicago, IL. The Bears beat the Steelers 31-28. The light at Soldier Field on this day was ethereal. I adjusted my settings to expose for this pocket of light in the end zone, hoping that a moment would find its way there. My waiting paid off as Gainwell, Skowronek and Freiermuth ran directly into the spotlight as they celebrated. (Alysa Rubin / Pittsburgh Steelers)

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith (81) prays prior to a regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 in Cincinnati, OH. The Bengals beat the Steelers 33-31. Before each game, a group of our players kneel to pray in the end zone. Using a 105mm prime lens, I was able to use an extremely shallow depth of field to create this portrait. Cincinnati had a light show prior to their team introductions, and the light hit Smith's face for a split second as he prayed, elevating what was already a unique moment. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith (56) strip sacks Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones (17) during a regular season game, Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Steelers defeated the Colts 27-20. It can be difficult to capture a clean image when I photograph the quarterback from close to the line of scrimmage. Using a 400mm lens allowed me to reach the middle of the field from the sideline. I was focused on Jones as Highsmith beat the offensive lineman, and I captured the entire sequence of Highsmith knocking the ball loose and was able to freeze the exact moment of the ball suspended in midair using a high shutter speed. The Pittsburgh Steelers take the field prior to a regular season game against the Miami Dolphins, Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Steelers defeated the Dolphins 28-15. Team introductions, especially during night games, are one of my favorite times to make pictures on a gameday. There are plentiful opportunities to use elements like light and color to your advantage. I used a higher shutter speed and a low ISO to silhouette our players walking out of the tunnel prior to being introduced. The smoke streaming from the mouth of the tunnel adds to the atmosphere. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt (90) deflects a pass during a regular season game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025 in Inglewood, CA. The Chargers beat the Steelers 25-10. Unless you are photographing the opposing quarterback from behind, it's uncommon to capture a deflected pass right on the line of scrimmage. There are many variables that can prevent you from making a clean image in the split second the defender swats the ball down. I was lucky to be in the right place to capture Watt at the precise moment he deflected this pass. (Alysa Rubin / Pittsburgh Steelers)

The Pittsburgh Steelers stand for the national anthem prior to a regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 in Cincinnati, OH. The Bengals beat the Steelers 33-31. During the national anthem, I typically use a longer lens to capture individual, tight player portraits. However, I chose to use a fisheye for this game to show a full scene of the players lined up on the sideline. There were fireworks prior to the anthem, and the lingering smoke in the sky enhanced the beams of light streaming from the top of the stadium. (Alysa Rubin / Pittsburgh Steelers)

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf (4) runs for a touchdown during a regular season game against the Minnesota Vikings, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland. The Steelers defeated the Vikings 24-21. One of the most electric moments from our game in Ireland was when Aaron Rodgers hit D.K. Metcalf on a slant route and Metcalf took it to the house. Initially, I was positioned in the corner of the end zone with my 400mm lens up to capture the action further down the field. When Mecalf turned on the jets, I quickly switched to my 70-200mm lens to capture him barreling over the Vikings defenders into the end zone. (Alysa Rubin/ Pittsburgh Steelers)

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward (97) prior to a regular season game against the Baltimore Ravens, Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Steelers defeated the Ravens 26-24. Every home game, a group of our players touch this "Men of Steel" sign outside of the locker room before walking out onto the field. Cam Heyward always takes a moment to himself, touching his helmet and hand to the sign before heading out. Last season, I ideated this concept and attempted to execute it in a few different ways. While I came away with a couple of images I liked, I wasn't completely satisfied. As I did last year, I rigged a remote camera onto the light fixture above the sign, ensuring it was pointed straight below. However, this year, I used a fisheye lens to ensure I was able to capture the entirety of both Heyward and the sign itself. I'm definitely more satisfied with this result. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8), Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward (97) acknowledge the crowd following a regular season game against the Minnesota Vikings, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland. The Steelers defeated the Vikings 24-21. After each win, Coach T, Rodgers and Heyward walked off of the field together, often waving and interacting with the crowd. I usually capture this moment from field level, but before the game, I scouted this location, knowing that if we were to win, the reaction from Coach, Rodgers, Heyward and the fans would make for a great image. After I finished capturing post game scenes at field level, I sprinted up the stairs to this spot above our tunnel. I used a 24-70mm lens to show the complete scene, including the Dublin game crest, Ireland flag, and the sea of fans. (Alysa Rubin/ Pittsburgh Steelers)
