The NFL announced 32 compensatory picks during the league owners meetings in Phoenix on Monday, with 16 teams getting additional draft picks, including the Steelers.
The Steelers were awarded a sixth-round pick, the 38th in the sixth round and the 206th pick overall, in this year's NFL Draft, April 25-27.
The team was awarded the pick based on their compensatory free agent losses and signings last year. A team that loses more or better compensatory free agents than it signs the previous year is eligible to receive a compensatory pick.
The Steelers lost cornerback William Gay, who signed back with them this year, and didn't have any compensatory free agent signings.
The following is a complete list of compensatory picks.
