No compensatory picks for Steelers

The NFL released the list of compensatory draft picks for the 2018 NFL Draft, and the Steelers did not receive one.

A total of 32 compensatory picks were awarded to teams based on a system of net losses during the prior free agency period.

The Steelers lost Jarvis Jones, Lawrence Timmons, and Markus Wheaton via free agency last year.and signed unrestricted free agents Tyson Alualu, Knile Davis, Justin Hunter and Coty Sensabaugh.

The Steelers have used compensatory picks in the past to select Hines Ward, James Conner, Anthony Chickillo, Vince Williams, Mike Vrabel, Amos Zereoue, Kelvin Beachum, Willie Colon and William Gay.

The compensatory picks began in 1994 and the Steelers have been awarded a total of 32 since then. Compensatory picks can be traded and are awarded in rounds three through seven.
