Steelers' tight end Heath Miller was honored by the Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania. Miller received the organization's Project Bundle-Up Award, honoring an individual or organization that has made a difference in the organization's efforts to provide warm winter outerwear for the needy in the Pittsburgh area.

"It's a great charity because what you raise goes right back to the community we live in and helps those that are in need," said Miller. "It makes sense. It helps when you see directly where the money goes and who it benefits.

"We have the opportunity to make a difference in the community and generate income. If we can help others in need it's great, especially in the community where we live."

Miller takes part in the Steelers/WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up shopping night, as well as hosting an annual Minigolf Classic to benefit the cause.

"That event is kind of my style," said Miller. "I am not a good golfer, but miniature golf you can't be too bad. It's always fun when we do it and I look forward to it."

The Minigolf Classic has been affiliated with the Steelers for 16 years, with Miller hosting it for seven, and raised over $200,000 to help individuals the Salvation Army serves.

"Our guests enjoy having dinner with Heath and talking about everything from school and upcoming summer plans to of course football," said Melissa Fereday, Director of Project Bundle-Up. "There is always a smile on his face as he talks to the guests and plays a round of mini-golf with each team. He takes so much time talking with each guest.

"We all know Heath is a great player on the field, but his contributions off the field in support of The Salvation Army and WTAE's Project Bundle-Up help so many needy children and seniors score big right along with him."
