Heyward to share his take

The importance and need for organ donors is growing daily in our country, with the demand outweighing the supply by leaps and bounds.

That is why UPMC has teamed with the Steelers to bring awareness to the issue, in particular the need and importance of living donor liver transplants.

Tunch Ilkin will moderate a chat revolving around the topic of living donor liver transplants on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6-7 p.m. (ET) with Cameron Heyward, Dr. Abhiniv Humar, the Chief of the Division of Transplantation at UPMC, and Rich, a patient, and Reagan, a live donor.

Heyward will be sharing his thoughts on the importance of others stepping up to help those in need and the importance of teamwork, both things that play a key role in the donor and transplant process. The chat will also further explain living donor liver transplants.

The chat can be viewed via Facebook Live through UPMC and Donate Life.

Those watching will be able to leave questions in the comments section, and some of those will be answered afterwards.
