At halftime of the Steelers' game the following day against the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field, members of the Super Bowl XL championship team will be introduced on the stadium field and recognized for their achievement in capturing the team's fifth of six Lombardi trophies.

The 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL marked the fifth Lombardi trophy for the Pittsburgh Steelers organization. The Steelers proceeded to add a sixth Lombardi trophy three years later in Super Bowl XLIII when they defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 27-23.

With the Steelers holding a narrow 14-10 lead in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XL and the Seahawks driving deep into Pittsburgh territory, No. 24 CB Ike Taylor picked off a Matt Hasselbeck pass intended for Darrell Jackson and returned 24-yards to put an end to the Seattle drive.

Following the game No. 36 RB Jerome Bettis retired from the NFL after a 13-year career and 13,662 career rushing yards. Bettis announced his retirement while standing on the Super Bowl XL podium at Ford Field in his hometown of Detroit. Mich. with the Lombardi Trophy in his hands.

With 9:04 remaining in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XL, QB Ben Roethlisberger pitched the ball to RB Willie Parker who handled the ball off to WR Antwaan Randle El who fired a pass down field to WR Hines Ward who took it to the house for a 43-yard touchdown and the final scoring play of the game for either team.

On the second play of the 3rd quarter in Super Bowl XL, from their own 25-yard line, Steelers RB Willie Parker took the handoff from QB Ben Roethlisberger and went off right tackle for 75-yards and a touchdown. Parker's 75-yard touchdown marked the longest run from scrimmage in Super Bowl history eclipsing Raiders RB Marcus Allen's 74-yard run in Super Bowl XVIII.

WR Hines Ward took home the Super Bowl XL MVP with 123 yards receiving including hauling in a 43-yard touchdown pass from WR Antwaan Randle El. Ward also had one rush for 18 yards in the game.
