This & That: Setting goals higher

Before Steelers' players headed into the offseason, they weighed in on a variety of topics. Here is a look at what some of them had to say.

Defensive end Cam Heyward on the team moving forward:
"We need to set our goals even higher. We aren't in the business of just making the playoffs. We have the goods in the room. But it's about going out and winning every football game. We want to be playing in Pittsburgh in the playoffs. All that stuff is reachable for us. When you look at our group, it depends on who comes back, but I definitely think we have the guys in the locker room that can continue to grow."

  • Guard David DeCastro on the play of tackle Alejandro Villanueva:
"He got better and better every week. He is still so young as far as football life. He kept getting better every week and gave us a chance. He is only going to get better."
  • Safety Rob Golden on if there was improvement in the secondary:
"I felt like each game guys got better. The more reps guys get, the better we're going to be. It's going to be interesting to see what goes on this offseason. When guys get to work together for a whole offseason, I know it's going to work well for us."
  • Tackle Alejandro Villanueva on his season:
"There's a learning curve that comes with football. The first couple of weeks were pretty rough, in terms of seeing things and learning. There are a lot of fronts and personalities from great defenders. I had the privilege of going against really good pass rushers. I learned a lot about the respect the players have for this game and for each other. I went against Tamba Hali, Dwight Freeney, Michael Johnson and DeMarcus Ware. They are unbelievable athletes and great people. It was a really cool experience for me overall to get the chance to interact with some great players around the league and sharing some time with this team."
  • Receiver Martavis Bryant on fellow receiver Sammie Coates:
"He did a great job. Once he got his opportunity, he took advantage of it. He is going to get better this offseason and be ready to go."
