Boxer Roy Jones, Jr., a huge Steelers fan, stopped by the team's practice facility and had a chance to take a tour and meet some of the players.

Jones, who has been training for a Nov. 8 fight against Joe Calzaghe for the Ring Magazine light-heavyweight championship at Madison Square Garden, was thrilled with the chance to meet some of the players he watches every Sunday.

"For me it's been awesome," said Jones. "I have followed the Steelers for so long. When I was a kid I loved them. It was fun being able to come through the facility and see everybody."

Jones had his picture taken by the Super Bowl Trophies and quipped that he never thought he would be that close to them. He also had a chance to visit with running back Mewelde Moore, who he met when he was training at Tulane.

"When I saw him I forgot he was here," said Jones of Moore. "I didn't put two and two together. It was good to see him again."

Jones, who got to know Mike Tomlin when he was coaching the Tampa Bay secondary, liked the fact that the players were just as happy to meet him.

"It's mutual respect for each other," said Jones. "When you see them and they are excited to see you it makes you feel good. They have me itching even more to go out and perform. They are going to perform hard knowing I am watching them and I am going to perform hard knowing they are watching me."
