PITTSBURGH ─ The Steelers will announce the 2009 recipients of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Pro Football Writers of America's annual awards on Wednesday, Dec. 30 during a 3:15 p.m. press conference at Steelers Headquarters at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex.
 
The Pittsburgh Chapter of Pro Football writers voted on "The Chief Award" presented annually to the member of the Steelers' organization who best exemplifies the spirit of cooperation with the media. The Chief Award was established in honor of Steelers' founder Arthur J. Rooney, Sr.
 
The winner of the 2009 "Joe Greene Great Performance Award", given annually to the outstanding Steelers' rookie, will also be announced. The award, which was established in 1984, was named after Steelers' Hall of Fame defensive tackle Joe Greene.
