When the NFL Draft came to an end on Saturday night, the signing of undrafted rookie free agents quickly became the priority as the Steelers added 12 players to help bolster the team's depth.
The Steelers added six players on defense, four on offense and both a punter and a kicker.
The following defensive players were added and will participate in the team's rookie orientation weekend.
Terry Carter * Cornerback * Louisiana Tech * 5-10 * 184
Carter was first-team All-WAC and second team All-Louisiana selection as a senior after recording 61 tackles, 41 of them solo stops. He also added 2.5 tackles for a loss and one interception for a touchdown. Carter also recorded11 pass break-ups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He recorded eight tackles three times in 2011, against Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State.
As a junior he recorded 18 total tackles, 14 of them solo stops, and had one pass break-up and a pass defensed in 10 games. His sophomore season was hampered by a hamstring injury, but he still managed to record 45 tackles. Carter started four games as a freshman, while playing in 13, and recorded 28 tackles. He was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against San Jose State when he intercepted a pass for a touchdown.
Robert Golden * Safety * Arizona * 5-11 * 202
Golden was third on the Wildcats in tackles his senior year with 69, including two tackles for a loss, and had two interceptions, returning one 91-yards for a touchdown against Washington.
Golden played cornerback his junior season and finished the year third on the team in tackles with 60 and a team-high 12 passes broken-up. Started at strong safety as a sophomore and had 41 tackles and was also a force on special teams. Golden played mostly on special teams as a freshman.
Ikponmwosa Igbinosun * Defensive End * Southern Connecticut State * 6-4 * 288Igbinosun was earned All-Northeast-10 Conference, All-ECAC and Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Region honors his senior season. He finished the year ranked fourth on the team with 58 tackles and led the team in sacks with seven and tackles for loss with 12. He also tied for the team lead in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.
His junior season he recorded 40 tackles, 16 of them solo stops, while playing in 10 games. As a sophomore he had 28 tackles, 12 solo stops, six tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks. He began his career playing in seven games as a freshman and recording eight tackles and one sack.
Brandon Lindsey * Linebacker * University of Pittsburgh * 6-2 * 254Lindsey finished his career with 22.5 sacks to rank ninth all-time at Pitt. He started 13 games for the Panthers in 2011, nine of them at defensive end and four at outside linebacker. He recorded 54 tackles, with 11 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks. He added two forced fumbles and an interception. Lindsey earned Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Syracuse with two forced fumbles and an interception.
As a junior he was second team All-Big East and finished the season with 51 tackles, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles. His sophomore season he was a reserve defensive end, with 18 tackles and four sacks. Lindsey played as a back-up linebacker and on special teams as a freshman.
Adrian Robinson * Linebacker * Temple * 6-1 * 250Robinson was a durable linebacker for the Temple Owls, playing in every game of his college career. As a senior he was named first-team All-MAC, ECAC All-Star and first-team All-MAC by Phil Steele and College Sports Madness. Robinson started 13 games at defensive end his senior year finishing fourth on the team with 52 tackles, including a team-high 13.5 for a loss. He also added an interception and his presence was felt on special teams as he added a blocked kick.
Robinson was also a first-team All-Mac selection his junior season and named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Connecticut. Robinson led Temple and the MAC with 13 sacks as a sophomore, earning him 2009 MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Robinson also recorded 46 tackles, including a team-high 14 for a loss and five forced fumbles.
Jake Stoller * Defensive End * Yale * 6-3 * 284
Stoller was named second-team All-Ivy League as a senior. He finished the year with 15 tackles, nine of them solo stops. His best game of the season was against Dartmouth with three tackles. Stoller won Yale's Jordan Olivar Award, awarded to the player that earned the highest respect of his teammates.
As a junior Stoller played in 10 games, starting eight of them, and had 21 tackles. He recorded five tackles his sophomore year. Stoller appeared in only five games his freshman year as he was hampered by a shoulder injury.
