Steelers kicker Jeff Reed – honorary chairman of the PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD campaign – kicked off delivery of 3,300 pairs of socks to local non-profit agencies by presenting a supply of socks to Andrew Kloes of Light of Life Mission.

Light of Life Mission – the campaign's first recipient – is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food, shelter and a life transforming recovery program designed to help people rebuild their lives.  The mission, founded in 1952, originally served as a refuse for transient men.  Eventually, recovery programs and services were expanded to include women and children.

The campaign's honorary chairman – who has proudly worn a black and gold uniform for the past seven years – issued a "Reed Challenge" to groups and organizations to collect and donate black…gold…and black/gold socks in particular.

"With the arrival of cold weather, many children and adults are in need of new socks," explained Reed, who served as the honorary chairman of the PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD campaign.  "The people of Western Pennsylvania are generous and care about their neighbors, so I'm very grateful to each and every person and organization who stepped up for this very good cause."
