Moore has MCL sprain

Running back Mewelde Moore suffered an MCL sprain against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night and is expected to miss at least this Saturday's game against the St. Louis Rams at Heinz Field.

"Needless to say he won't be available this week," said Coach Mike Tomlin during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

Tomlin, who said there could be a roster move because of Moore's injury, also indicated that fellow running back Rashard Mendenhall was bothered by sore ribs following the game.

"I'm sure he'll be fine, but he'll have some discomfort here the early portions of the week," said Tomlin.

Linebacker LaMarr Woodley started against the 49ers and didn't have any problems with the hamstring that had been hampering him.

"LaMarr Woodley I thought did fine coming of his injury last night," said Tomlin. "He was able to participate. We took him out at the end of the game as fatigue sets in, but he was fine.  No setbacks there."

The Steelers are hoping to get three players back this week that missed the 49ers game, specifically linebacker Chris Carter, center Maurkice Pouncey and receiver Emmanuel Sanders.
