Steelers Youth Coaching Clinic

Each summer, at the start of Training Camp at Saint Vincent College, the Steelers welcome youth football coaches to enjoy a day of learning from the Steelers. The clinic includes classroom education and on-field instruction of various position drills. Following the clinic, the youth coaches are invited to view the afternoon Steelers practice from the field to see our coaches in action.

Youth Football Co-Captains

For each regular season home game at Heinz Field, the Steelers partners with area youth football organizations to have two youth players join the Steelers captains for the pregame coin toss. The players and their families get to enjoy watching pregame warmups from the sideline prior to participating in the coin toss. Organizations are selected from their involvement in the Heads Up Football program or by their involvement in various Steelers events throughout the year.

Youth Football Camp in Mexico

Each summer, the Steelers host a Youth Football Camp in Mexico for 300 passionate youth fans. Current and former Steelers players make the trip to help teach the drills and provide a great experience with our young fans in Mexico. Players that have enjoyed the international trip include Jerome Bettis, Santonio Holmes, Brett Keisel, Joey Porter, Craig Wolfley, Ramon Foster, Roosevelt Nix and many more.

Gatorade Junior Training Camps

The Steeles host annual camps along with Gatorade to have some football fun, hear life lessons, and to learn about proper hydration during athletics. The Steelers have offered two camps for boys and girls age 6-14 prior to our night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium and also at Heinz Field during Rib Fest on Labor Day

Youth Teams at Training Camp

Each day prior to the Steelers afternoon practice at Saint Vincent College, we host two youth football teams to learn some football and make some great memories. Along with a Steelers assistant coach, the teams enjoy a thirty minute on-field youth skills session and then make a tunnel to welcome the Steelers as they walk down to the practice fields. More than 3,500 kids from more than 75 different organizations have participated since 2013.

Play 60 FunZone

To get kids active for 60 minutes each day, the Steelers hold an area at Training Camp at Saint Vincent College where w hose kids in grades K-12 to participate in five stations for 60 minutes to reinforce the Play 60 messaging. We start with a 10-minute stretch and then head into five different stations, including a 40-yard dash; wide receiver, defensive back and running back drills; and do-it-at-home exercises. The Play 60 FunZone is held during the afternoon practice each day from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Youth Skills Session at Fan Blitz

Each year during our annual draft party, we hose 90-minute youth football skill sessions with one of our current players on the field. The session includes drills for wide receivers, quarterbacks, linebackers and more.

Play Football Month (August)

Each August brings the start of a new football season, and to help celebrate, we provide several experiences for youth football players and teams. We host youth football games at halftime of our two preseason games, have youth football players join us on the sideline during pregame and provide tickets to several area youth football organizations
