Ben is Digest Player of Week

BEN ROETHLISBERGER
Quarterback

For the first time this preseason, Ben Roethlisberger had a chance. With better, but not perfect, protection from his offensive line, Roethlisberger got his first in-game opportunities to survey the field and make some plays in the passing game, and it was no surprise when he delivered.

In one half of playing time against the Kansas City Chiefs at Heinz Field, Roethlisberger completed 13-of-19 for 166 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions for a passer rating of 113.0. And had Emmanuel Sanders been able to control the ball through the catch on what could have been a 34-yard touchdown, Roethlisberger's numbers would have been even better. And on that particular play, the ball was perfectly thrown.

Roethlisberger is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Ziggy Hood, who had four tackles, including one for a loss, plus a sack; Alan Baxter, who had three tackles, including one for loss, plus two sacks and a forced fumble; Markus Wheaton, who caught three passes for 54 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown; and Cameron Heyward, who had one tackle, one sack and three hits on the quarterback.
