The Steelers will play their home opener on Sunday at Heinz Field when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs, but the excitement surrounding the game kicked off on Friday night on the North Shore.
It began with a meet and greet with Hall of Famer Franco Harris for Steelers Nation Unite Hall of Fame members and season ticket holders at Franco's Pizzeria at Heinz Field. SNU members spent time mingling with Harris, and of course enjoying the top-notch pizza available at the eatery, that is in the Bud Light Pub 33 and is open year-round.
"It's always great to engage with Steelers Nation and Steelers fans," said Harris. "And to be able engage with the experience of some of the best pizza anywhere makes it very special. I am happy they are getting to try all of the pizza options.
"It's a fun night of engaging with Steelers fans. Food should always be a fun experience. When you get people around the stadium, a game-type of atmosphere, and you have pizza's being tossed all over the place, what could be better than that."
The fun continued at Stage AE where country music superstar Kip Moore was the headliner at the Kickoff Concert. Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes was on hand for the concert, as was PGA golfer and Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk, who is also a Steelers season ticket holder. Furyk will also lead the Terrible Towel Twirl before Sunday's game, and will host a golf challenge at halftime.
