Mark Lovat is in his first season as the Steelers' head strength and conditioning coach in 2026. This season marks his 28th in the NFL. Lovat previously spent the last two seasons with the Titans as assistant strength and conditioning coach. He was hired by Tennessee in 2024 after 25 years with the Green Bay Packers.
     Lovat (pronounced "luh-VOTT") was hired by the Packers in 1999 as a strength and conditioning assistant, a title he held for a total of 16 seasons with the team. He was the club's strength and conditioning coordinator from 2010 to 2018.
     During Lovat's time with the Packers, he was a part of 17 playoff teams, 12 division titles and one Super Bowl championship (Super Bowl XLV). In 2011, Lovat was named the NFL Strength Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society. The same organization honored him with the Super Bowl Achievement Award in 2010.
     An accomplished athlete himself, Lovat earned a Division I baseball scholarship to Butler University in Indianapolis, starting three seasons at shortstop and second base for the Bulldogs. He also received the Helen Tewksbury Award for academic and athletic leadership and the Mental Attitude Award during the course of his playing career.
     In 2005, Lovat completed his master's degree in exercise science and performance enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania. He also has earned certifications as a performance-enhancement specialist (PES) and as a corrective-exercise specialist (CES) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Additionally, in 2002 he achieved a Level 1 certification through USA Weightlifting, the governing body of the U.S. Olympic weightlifting team. Lovat is also certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and completed a human-movement science course as part of his continuing education.
     Lovat is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) in April 2000.
     He is the son of longtime NFL offensive line coach Tom Lovat, whose career included time with the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks, in addition to several years serving at the collegiate level.
     A native of Pocatello, Idaho, he and his wife, Maggie, have a son, Luke.
