Week 4 Injury Report (Jets)

The Steelers wrapped up preparation for Sunday's game against the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium, with a new addition to the injury report.

Starting cornerback Cameron Sutton was limited on Friday with a groin injury. The good news, though, is he isn't on the game status report.

However, his fellow starting cornerback, Ahkello Witherspoon, missed practice for the third straight day and has been ruled out for the game.

"Losing a starter on your defense is going to be hard at any position," said safety Terrell Edmunds. "Injuries come up. We have other guys that have been working hard. We just have to help them out any way we can in the back end."

With Witherspoon out the responsibility won't just shift to one person, but multiple players and everyone is ready for whatever comes their way.

"I think we know what our rotation is," said defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. "We'll probably move some guys around, we might slide some guys in and out using different combinations. Not exactly sure in terms of how that's going to break down on Sunday, but I don't think it'll be, 'Hey this guy's going here and this guy's going there.' I think it'll be something that'll be done by committee."

One of the guys who will be part of that committee is cornerback Levi Wallace.

"The standard is the standard," said Wallace. "That is what we all implemented in training camp. Just going out there and making plays when the next person is called. We have to go out there and get the win this week. That's all that's important."

Also on the injury front, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was a full participant for the third straight day while dealing with a concussion.

Guard Kevin Dotson was a full participant once again after suffering an ankle injury against the Browns and punter Pressley Harvin III was also a full participant for the third day after being bothered by a hip injury that came about following the Browns game.

Earlier in the day the Steelers signed defensive back Mark Gilbert to the practice squad. He played in eight games for the Lions last season, finishing with three tackles and a forced fumble, which came in the Week 10 game against the Steelers.
