Mendenhall Puts up Big Numbers for Safe Kids

FedEx Ground Officer Sandy McCurdy and Running Back Rashard Mendenhall presented Holly Sloan of Safe Kids Allegheny County with a $1,000 donation in honor of Mendenhall being named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Steelers' 38-28 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Each week fans vote from six finalists in the Air and Ground categories for the top quarterback and running back. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities. Along with the player awards, FedEx makes a $1,000 donation in the winning players' names to the local Safe Kids USA coalitions to support pedestrian safety efforts.

Safe Kids USA is a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children. The funding is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and street signage to traffic barriers and educational training.
