The Steelers have a long history of memorable moments throughout the years, and during the 2025 season we are going to highlight those moments against each week's opponent.
This week, we feature games against the Seattle Seahawks.

The setting was Detroit, Michigan, but you never would have known by the crowd as Steelers fans packed Ford Field and Terrible Towels were all the eye could see.
It was a homecoming for Jerome Bettis, the beloved running back who thought about retiring the year before, but was convinced to play another season by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who promised he would get him to the Super Bowl in his hometown of Detroit.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but it would be the only lead they would see. After a slow start the Steelers got on the board late in the first half when Roethlisberger capped an 11-play, 59-yard drive with a one-yard dive for a touchdown and a 7-3 lead heading into halftime.
The Steelers offense caught fire to start the second half when Willie Parker broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 14-3. The Seahawks kept it close after Kelly Herndon intercepted Roethlisberger at the four-yard line and returned it 76 yards to the Steelers 20-yard line. Matt Hasselbeck hit Jerramy Stevens for a 16-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-10.
Ike Taylor thwarted a go-ahead effort by the Seahawks when he intercepted Hasselbeck in the fourth quarter and a sweet gadget play sealed the game for the Steelers. Wide receiver Antwaan Randle El took a reverse handoff and hit Hines Ward for a 43-yard scoring strike, Ward finishing the game with five catches for 123 yards and MVP honors.
The Steelers had a tough road to get to Super Bowl XL, winning the last four games of the season and three road playoff games, but for Coach Bill Cowher it was a ride he will always remember.
"It was special. It was a really special team," said Cowher. "It might not have been our best team during my time there, but it was our closest team. I think you realize in this business that the chemistry that you have on the team is more important than the talent that you have. We had good players, we had great players. We had a very special team. They were close to one another, they played for one another.
"Nothing was more evident of that than what they were able to do with Jerome at the forefront of that journey to Detroit. It was a great year. Our backs were against the wall with four games to go in the season and we go on to win eight straight games and win the championship. It was a very special journey."

The Steelers opened the 2011 season with what safety Troy Polamalu referred to as a 'humbling' 35-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
And on this day, they were looking to bounce back strong against the Seahawks in front of the home crowd.
"I am still chewing on last week," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "I am sure we all are. That's just the nature of this thing. It's not going to take one performance to take that stench off of us."
The Steelers would need a strong performance all around to wash the taste of the Ravens loss out of their mouths, and they got just what they needed.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 22 of 30 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown, with receiver Mike Wallace being his key target, catching eight passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. Running back Rashard Mendenhall had 19 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown, while fellow running back Isaac Redman added 10 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown.
"I felt like we could have scored a lot more points than we did, but we won the game and that's what's most important right now," said Roethlisberger.
The run defense was relentless, holding the Seahawks to a mere 31 yards on 13 carries, with Marshawn Lynch carrying the ball six times for 11 yards.
And the pass defense was equally menacing. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson couldn't escape the pressure as he was sacked five times, completing 20 passes for just 159 yards.

In front of a primetime audience, the Steelers gave fans plenty of reason to stay tuned as they fought back and forth against the Seahawks, eventually pulling out a win in overtime.
"I'm appreciative of the effort of our team, the ability to smile in the face of adversity and make the necessary plays at the critical moments," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "We've got a lot of improvements to make, obviously, but boy, it's good to win a game like that, to get to know yourselves individually and collectively when faced with dire circumstances at times, and seemingly when it's not going your way. So that was good."
The Steelers jumped out to a 14-0 lead on a five-yard touchdown from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to running back Najee Harris. Tight end Eric Ebron took it from one yard out for the 14-0 lead, before the Seahawks battled their way into the game.
Seattle answered with two touchdowns, and both teams added field goals to tie the game, 17-17.
Kicker Chris Boswell gave the Steelers what they had hoped would be enough with a 52-yard field goal with 1:30 to play to go up, 20-17.
With not much time to work, Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith stepped up and moved the team down the field to the Steelers 23-yard line, where Jason Myers hit on a 43-yard field goal with no time left on the clock to send the game into overtime.
The Seahawks won the toss and received in overtime, but linebacker T.J. Watt would come through, sacking Smith for a 13-yard loss on third down and forcing a punt. The Seahawks got the ball back again, and Watt once again did his part. He sacked Smith for a two-yard loss, forcing a fumble, which linebacker Devin Bush recovered at the Seahawks 16-yard line.
Boswell was called upon once again, hitting a 37-yard field goal for the 23-20 win.
"I would say that we were happy to have the opportunity to close the game out as a defense," said Watt. "It was sudden death on the last drive there and we love having the ball. We love playing defense in a situation like that and I'm glad we were able to close the game out for our team and it was a resilient performance for us.
"We had high expectations for this atmosphere, and it absolutely exceeded everything that we could have imagined. Hats off to the fans for creating such a chaotic environment. Any time you can get offenses on silent counts it helps the pass rush a lot and, as you can see, we were feeding off of the energy every single play."

The Steelers kept their postseason hopes alive with a 30-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in a game where the offense put up some big numbers.
"We were playing a team that was desperate like we were, and we didn't blink," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "I'm appreciative of that. They're to be congratulated for that.
"I thought the offensive line provided the wave that we rode. We talked all week about trying to conquer the environment and winning the line of scrimmage being a major component of it. They embraced that challenge, and I thought they controlled the climate, made third downs, manageable ones, minimized possession downs, minimized the crowd component of it. Just thankful for that.
"A lot of plays made by a lot of people. But that's team football, particularly this time of year as the road gets narrow."
The offense moved the ball efficiently, putting up 468 offensive yards.
Quarterback Mason Rudolph, starting his second consecutive game, completed 18 of 24 passes for 274 yards.
"I thought he did a good job," said Tomlin.
The ground game exploded with 202 yards rushing, including running back Najee Harris carrying the ball 27 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns and running back Jaylen Warren carrying the ball 13 times for 75 yards and a touchdown.
"I thought he was determined," said Tomlin of Harris. "As was Jaylen. If you are a competitor, you are going to be your best.
"I thought we got appropriate effort from all parties involved and not to minimize it, but it was just a critical time and so if you're a competitor, you're going to be at your best."
Receiver George Pickens had another strong performance, with seven receptions for 131 yards, including another amazing catch that those who watch him have become accustomed to.
"We're used to seeing George make plays like that," said Tomlin.
Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward is accustomed to talking about the team's defensive performance after a game, but following the win, he was all about giving the offense their props.
"We haven't been our best defense, but to have an offense that was going out there and giving us 30 points, that's a lot to rely on," said Heyward. "I hate to say it gives us more room for error. It's a team game and to have complementary football where if we give up a score the offense goes down and gets another touchdown. You really do appreciate that."
