PRO (16-9/3-3): Drafted by the Steelers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

2016 (16-9/3-3): Became the ninth rookie in team history (since the 1970 merger) to record at least three interceptions in his debut season…recorded one special teams tackle during the regular season (10/2 vs. Kansas City).

  • 11/6 at Baltimore: Made his first career start…recorded his first career interception, picking off QB Joe Flacco…tied for the team lead with two pass breakups.
  • 11/20 at Cleveland: Picked off QB Cody Kessler in the first quarter…led the team with a single-game career-high three pass breakups.
  • 12/11 at Buffalo: Recorded his third interception of the season, picking off QB Tyrod Taylor.
  • AFC Divisional Playoff 1/15 at Kansas City: Recovered his first career fumble on defense in the postseason.

            COLLEGE: Started 23-of-36 games played for the Miami Hurricanes (2013-15)…recorded 93 tackles, seven interceptions, 14 pass breakups, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery…as a senior in 2015, earned All-ACC second-team honors, as he led the conference with six interceptions, the most by a Hurricane since 2003 (Sean Taylor, 10)…his six interceptions tied as the 10th-most in a single-season (2015) in school history…opened the 2015 season with an interception in three consecutive games, to become the first Hurricane since Taylor to record at least one interception in three straight games...totaled a career-best 40 tackles during the 2014 season…as special teams player in 2013, averaged 26.1 yards per kickoff return on 10 returns…majored in liberal arts.

            PERSONAL: Attended Northwestern High School (Miami, Fla.)…totaled 72 tackles, 4.0 sacks, six pass breakups and two interceptions, in addition to returning two kickoffs for touchdowns…he was also one of the nation’s top hurdlers, as he earned All-USA high school track and field honors from the USA Today in 2011 and 2012…son of Artie Tyrone Burns, Sr. and the late Dana Smith…is the legal guardian of his two younger brothers, Thomas and Jordan…he and his girlfriend, Ella, have one son, A.J….Full name: Artie Tyrone Burns, Jr.
