Girl's Flag Football | Pittsburgh Steelers - Steelers.com
We continue to support girls with a passion for flag football by giving them the space to learn about the game and even play in our Steelers Girls Flag league! Our goal is to eventually encourage local schools to sanction flag football as a varsity sport.
Steelers' new girls flag football league is a hit among local high schools
Anybody who has ever told somebody they "throw like a girl" clearly has never seen Shaler's Sydnee Cruz playing quarterback.
Cruz is the quarterback of the Titans' undefeated girls flag football team, and she can absolutely spin the pigskin. Playing on her home field at Shaler Middle School in the final week of the regular season on Sunday afternoon, Cruz launched a game-winning touchdown pass to senior receiver Taylor Pierce to give Shaler a 6-0 win vs. rival North Allegheny. The ball traveled about 30 yards in the air before Pierce tracked it down, snatched it out of the air and outran the Tigers' defense into the end zone with 19 seconds remaining.
